Basic Survey for Revitalize of Employment of Occupational Therapists in Community Health Center

Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this study was present condition of physical therapy and occupational therapy on community health center in whole country. And in other to offer basic survey of revitalize of employment of occupational therapist.

Methods : The way of this study was face to face question of 75 head of community health center in whole 254 community health center on September. 1, 2005 to November. 30, 2005. A statistic analysis program used generated by SPSS for Windows 10,0 version.

Results : The results of this study was follow:
1) Although physical therapy center was established in the 50 public health centers among 75 public health center, occupational therapy room did not exist to be.
2) physical therapist employed 88 people that is 1 person(1.1%) with full-time job, 68 people(77.3%) temporary employee, 18 people(20.5%) period employee, but 1 person of occupational therapist employed by temporary post.
3) Responded that 90.7% need to be physical therapy center but responded that only 60% need to be occupational therapy center.
4) Rehabilitation-visit therapy service enforced in 50 places(66.7%) of public health center 75 places, professional manpower examined by a nurse, a doctor, a physical therapist, other (Oriental doctor) but occupational therapist was not more in 1 person(0.7%).
5) The type of disease in rehabilitation-visit therapy examined by elderly people more than most 65 years old by a stroke(40.2%), chronic degeneration disease(33.9%), dementia(12.5%) and spinal cord injury(10.0%).

Conclusion : The result of this study suggest that:
1) Need to establish a law that occupational therapist¡¯s employment and line of duty in community health center.
2) Need to hold public forum and debate etc, for participation of occupational therapy in community based rehabilitation and need awareness conversion about occupational therapist role
